This class brings together the grace of gentle yoga with the profound energy cultivation of qi gong. Re-integrate yourself back into the natural world to understand your relationship with the seasons, your emotions, your health, and ultimately with yourself. Five Element Fusion is designed to nourish the mind, body, and spirit while also empowering you to harmonize health naturally through movement and breath. Together, yoga and qi gong are effective in keeping a healthy balance between mind and emotion, qi and strength. This practice is a way to ground and bring in life energy to increase the flow of positive energy. Each class will end with restorative poses to more deeply integrate the benefits of the practice.
Five Element Yin is designed to follow the shifts of the season. In Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, winter is a time of introspection and conservation of energy. It is a season for rest, reflection, and nurturing the inner self, allowing for deep restoration. As we transition from the stillness of winter into the renewal of spring, this period becomes an ideal opportunity to rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit, preparing for the vibrant energy of the coming months. According to the ancient wisdom of East Asian medicine, our bodies emerge from the restful winter with a need to cleanse and awaken, aligning with the natural rhythm of growth and renewal. This time is perfect for establishing new routines and practices that foster not only self-care but also a deeper connection to self-compassion and vitality.
Yin yoga is an inner journey, closer to the bones, helpful to balance the predominantly yang practices. This is a slower paced style of yoga which includes passive poses (or relaxing the body and muscles) combined with holding poses longer while focusing on the breath and being present. Many of the poses are seated or lying on your back or stomach. Yin is a great counter balance to more active styles of movement.
Key benefits: calms and balances mind and body, stress and anxiety reduction, increased circulation, improved flexibility, fascial release, improved joint mobility, balance to the internal organs and improved flow of prana. Just the thing to move away from the hectic pace of modern life and find some stillness.
