Jing Luo Qi Gong

Not in session

Jing Luo Qi Gong is a moving meditation that traces the energetic pathways in the body according to the principles of East Asian medical and martial arts . Tracing these pathways teaches us to cultivate an awareness of qi, which continually circulates through us. Through this practice, we learn to discern areas of abundance, obstruction, and deficiency in our own bodies. This qi gong form is an excellent tool for self-care, and can be used by healing arts practitioners to cultivate awareness of qi within other people as well.

Wang Jiwu’s 16 Longevity Exercises

mondays | 11:00 - 11:45

Nov. 6, 13, 20, & 27

The reputed Doctor of Chinese Medicine, Wang Jiwu, created this series of exercises in the 1930s to serve as a front line therapy at his busy clinic in Beijing. Distilled from the centuries old method of xingyi quan the Longevity Exercises artfully combine physical movement with intention to stretch and “clean” all the joints of the body while balancing the energetic system and remaining easy to learn and easy to practice.  We consider this system to be an essential hygiene, like brushing your teeth and washing your hair. The morning sessions are not a “class” in the normal sense, the routine is the same everyday, and students of all levels practice together. Instruction is given on an individual basis. When practiced daily, they have been shown to increase vitality, improve strength, coordination and balance. They can also calm the spirit, aid sleep, improve resistance to disease and reduce joint pain.

The exercises can be practiced seated if standing is not possible and can be augmented with a separate series of exercises designed to be performed lying in bed for those in convalescence from illness or injury.

This is a donation only class, however registration in advanced is requested.
